Do I need any prior experience for the beginner courses?

No, absolutely not! Our beginner courses are specifically designed to welcome absolute novices. Whether you have never drawn manga before, have no background in Japanese history, or are just starting your collecting journey, our instructors will guide you through the fundamentals from the ground up, ensuring a supportive and accessible learning environment for everyone.

Are the courses held online or in-person?

Currently, all Tokyo Anime Heaven courses are exclusively held in-person. This allows us to provide direct, hands-on instruction, foster a strong sense of community among students, and leverage our unique location within the inspiring atmosphere of our store in Akihabara, Tokyo. This allows for real-time feedback and interaction with both instructors and fellow enthusiasts.

What materials do I need for the drawing courses?

For the Beginner Manga Drawing course, you will need basic traditional drawing supplies: pencils (HB, 2B recommended), erasers, an inking pen set (Sakura Pigma Micron pens are popular), and suitable drawing paper (smooth surface is best). For the Advanced Digital Painting course, you will need your own laptop or tablet capable of running digital art software, and you must have Clip Studio Paint installed prior to the first class. A pressure-sensitive stylus or drawing tablet is essential for this course.

What is the cancellation policy?

We understand that circumstances can change. Cancellations made more than 14 days before the course start date are eligible for a full refund, minus a small administrative fee (¥2,000). Cancellations made between 7 and 14 days before the start date will receive a 50% refund. Unfortunately, cancellations made less than 7 days before the start date, or after the course has begun, are non-refundable. We encourage students to commit to the full course duration to gain the most benefit.

Is there an age requirement to enroll?

Our courses are generally designed for individuals aged 16 and older. Students under 18 will require parental consent to enroll. While some course content may appeal to younger audiences, the pace and depth are best suited for older teens and adults. Please contact us if you have specific questions regarding age suitability for a particular course.

Will I receive a certificate upon completion?

Upon successful completion of any Tokyo Anime Heaven course, students will receive a Certificate of Participation. This acknowledges your commitment to learning and serves as recognition of the skills and knowledge gained during the program.
